Acrylic acid and its series products, mainly its esters, have experienced rapid development in recent years. Like ethylene, propylene, vinyl chloride, acrylonitrile, etc., they have developed into important raw materials for the polymer chemical industry. As monomers of polymer compounds, acrylic acid and its esters have a total output of more than one million tons in the world, while the output of polymers and copolymers (mainly lotion resins) made of acrylic acid and its esters is nearly five million tons. These resins are widely used in various sectors such as coatings, plastics, textiles, leather, papermaking, building materials, and packaging materials. Acrylic acid and its esters can be used for organic synthesis and polymer synthesis, with the vast majority being used for the latter, and more often copolymerized with other monomers such as vinyl acetate, styrene, methyl methacrylate, etc., to produce various properties of synthetic esters, functional polymer materials, and various additives.
Main application areas: (1) The warp yarn upper slurry is prepared from raw materials such as acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, ammonium polyacrylate, etc. It has a larger capacity for desizing than polyvinyl alcohol upper slurry and saves starch.
(2) Acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and other copolymer latex are used as adhesives for electrostatic flocking and hair planting, with good firmness and hand feel.
(3) A high molecular weight powder is made from a copolymer of acrylic acid and ethyl acrylate as a water thickener. It can be used as a thickener in oil fields, with a yield increase of 500 tons of crude oil per ton of product, and has a good oil recovery effect on old wells.
(4) Copperplate paper coating agent uses quaternary copolymer latex of acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, styrene, etc. as copperplate paper coating, which maintains color without yellowing, has good printing performance, does not stick to rollers, and is better than styrene butadiene latex, which can save dry matter. (5) Polyacrylates can be used to produce various polyacrylic acid products (such as ammonium salts, sodium salts, potassium salts, aluminum salts, nickel salts, etc.) using acrylic acid. Used as a coagulant, water treatment agent, dispersant, thickener, food preservative, acid and alkali resistant desiccant, softener and other polymer additives
